Searching book content
You can search a book, then view results on the search panel and page view. This topic describes how to initiate and refine a search of book contents from the Book editor.

Select a book from the Current Books hub or Archived Books hub to open it.

Select the Review book tab.

To begin a search, select the Search icon
. The Search panel will expand on the left side of the screen. -
Enter a term or phrase in the Search field.

To initiate the search, select anywhere on the screen. You can also select the Enter key on a PC keyboard or the Return key on a Mac keyboard.

A list of pages that contain the search term appears in the search panel. The results are displayed according to the book structure, not the best match. If the book contains tabs, they are expanded so you can easily navigate the book, while viewing search results.

You can also use the page slider to identify which pages in the book contain the search terms.

Select a page number in the Search panel or a mark in the page slider to see a preview of book content in the page view. The search terms will be highlighted.

By default, search results include all terms. To refine the search, you can apply a filter. Select the Filter menu, and select one of the following options:

Any term returns results that include any of the terms you enter. For example, a search for "Board of Directors" will return a list of pages that include the words "Board", "of", or "Directors", or a combination of all words.

All terms returns results that include all the terms you enter. A search for "Board of Directors", will return a list of pages that include each word: "Board", "of", and "Directors".

Exact phrase returns results that include all the terms you enter, as a complete phrase. A search for "Board of Directors" will return a list of pages where the term "Board of Directors" appears.

To end the search, select the x next to the search term you entered in the Search field. The list of results will no longer appear in the Search panel and highlights will disappear from the page view.

To close the Search panel, select the Search icon again.
