Working with datasets
Efficient dataset management is central to ACL AI Studio. This section explains how to create, organize, collaborate on, and secure data collections for analysis. It covers key steps such as uploading files, adding metadata, managing access, and working with datasets throughout their lifecycle, so you can confidently use AI-powered tools and collaborative workflows to support your organization’s data needs.
Add a dataset
- On the ACL AI Studio home page, from the drop-down menu, select Add dataset.
- In the Add new box that appears, do the following:
- Name In this field, enter a unique name. This is a mandatory field.
- Description Enter a description of up to 800 characters.
- Select Add.
Edit a dataset
You can edit the name of a dataset.
-
On the Datasets home page, go to the dataset that you want to edit.
-
From the more options menu (three dots), select Edit.
-
Edit the name and select Save.
Create a copy of a dataset
You can create a copy of an existing dataset so that you can reuse the information without the need to create it manually.
-
On the Datasets home page, go to the dataset that you want to copy.
-
From the more options menu (three dots), select Create a copy.
-
Enter a name and select Create.
Download a dataset
You can download a dataset so that you can reuse the information for backup, audit, or archival purposes.
-
On the Datasets home page, go to the dataset that you want to download.
-
From the more options menu (three dots), select Download dataset.
The dataset is downloaded to your system. You also receive an email with a link to download.
Note
Datasets are stored in a compressed format, so the size shown in the dataset card reflects the compressed version. When a dataset is downloaded, it may expand and become larger than the displayed size. For example, a dataset listed as 100 MB may download as about 400 MB.
The same applies when uploading: a file may appear larger locally but shrink after compression.
This behavior is expected and helps optimize storage.
Upload a dataset
- On the ACL AI Studio home page, from the Add dataset drop-down menu, select Upload existing.
- In the Add existing dataset box, do the following:
- Add a downloaded dataset by browsing your local system or dragging it into the designated area.
- Enter a name and description in the respective fields.
- Select Add.
Delete a dataset
Only an ACL AI Studio Admin or an Owner collaborator can delete a dataset. When a dataset is deleted, the system deletes:
-
All the source and output tables associated with the dataset.
-
All analyses, associated chat history, and AI-generated content from the dataset.
-
On the Datasets home page, go to the dataset that you want to delete.
-
From the more options menu (three dots), select Delete.
-
In the Delete dataset confirmation box, select Yes.
