Password reset link
The password reset process has been updated to provide users with an encrypted link that navigates to a secure password reset screen.
Receive a password reset link
When a password may need to be reset, to receive a password reset link:
- On the Sign In screen, enter your Username into the Username field.
- Select the Forgotten your password? link (located beneath the Remember Me checkbox).
The Password Reset screen displays.
Note
If the Password Reset PIN feature is enabled, enter the required Password Reset PIN into the field provided.
- Select Submit.
Provided that a valid contact email address is recorded for the user in Diligent Entities, an email containing a password reset link will be sent to the user.
Note
It is recommended that users sign out of Diligent Entities and close any existing Diligent Entities browser sessions before selecting the Password reset link.
- Select the Password reset link link in the email.
Note
The link is time sensitive and will expire after a set time. The default expiration time is 30 minutes.
The Password Reset screen displays.
- Enter a new password into both the New Password and Verify New Password fields.
- Select Sign In.
The new password is used to provide access to the related Diligent Entities Home screen.
Change My Password
If there is a need to change a password once already signed in, the Password Details screen can also be accessed by navigating to:
- My Profile icon > My Preferences > Change My Password
Forgotten passwords and expired links
In cases where a user has lost or forgotten their password, or where the reset password link expires, Administrators can also send or resend an email containing an encrypted password reset link to the user.
Note
System Tools can only be accessed and configured by users with Administrator rights.
To send a password reset email:
- Navigate to the required User profile (System Tools > System Security > Users)
- Select the Open (Folder) icon.
The User Preferences wizard displays.
- Select the Change User's Password option.
- Select Next.
The Password Details screen displays.
- Select Email.
A password reset email, containing the password reset link, is sent to the selected user.
Clipboard
To immediately generate, copy and share the password reset link directly with the user, a copy to Clipboard option is available.
To enable this option:
- Navigate to: System Tools > System Options > Users.
The System Options Users screen displays.
- Select the Enable Copy to Clipboard for Password Reset option.
- Select Finish.
The wizard closes and the Clipboard option is available to select when resetting a password.
- Select Clipboard.
The password reset link is copied to the clipboard, ready for sharing.
- Select Finish (located at the bottom of the wizard screen).
The wizard closes.
