Link to shared data tables in an ACL robot

You can link from a consumer ACL robot to data tables in a source ACL robot if the data tables have been made available for sharing. The method of table sharing in the source robot controls whether a particular data table is available to a consumer robot. For more information, see Table sharing methods.

After you link to a shared table, tasks in the consumer robot can use the linked table as if it exists in the consumer robot.

You link to shared tables selectively. From a single consumer robot, you can link to one or more shared tables in one or more source robots.

A shared data table in a source robot becomes available to a consumer robot when the consumer links to it, either manually or automatically, using the Auto-link feature.

Auto-link tables

Note

You must be a Robots Admin or the owner of a robot to link to shared tables, or to unlink from shared tables.

When you enable the Auto‑link checkbox for a selected source robot, the application automatically links all existing data tables from that source and continues to link newly created tables, subject to name‑conflict and mode rules. For more information, see Sharing and linking data tables in ACL robots.

Auto‑linking feature is available only when the source robot has table auto‑sharing turned on. By default, it is turned off per source robot in each consumer robot. Linking is mode specific; Development links only to development mode and Production links only to production mode.

Conflict handling

If a table with the same name already exists in the consumer robot, automatic linking skips that table and retains the local copy. Keep table names unique across robots to avoid skips.

If two different source robots contain tables with the same name, the table from the source robot that created it first is prioritized for linking. Any same-name tables created later are skipped for that consumer robot.

Link to a shared data table

Link from a consumer robot to a shared data table in a source robot. Once linked, the data table functions as if it exists in the consumer robot.

During the linking process, you can link to multiple shared data tables, and shared tables in multiple source robots, if required.

  1. From the Platform home page (www.diligentoneplatform.com), select the Robots app to open it.

If you are already in Diligent One, you can use the left-hand navigation menu to switch to the Robots app.

    Note

Diligent One Platform also supports the domain www.highbond.com. For more information, see Supported domains.

  2. From the dashboard in Robots, select ACL Robots.

  3. Navigate to the robot that you want to link from (the consumer robot), and select the robot to open it.

  4. In the upper-right corner of the robot, select Production or Development to select the mode to use.

    Note

Table sharing and linking is segregated by mode. You can only link to tables that are shared within the same mode.

For more information, see Development mode and production mode in Robots.

  5. On the Input/Output tab, in the Linked tables section, do one of the following:

    • Link to a table for the first time select but you can start here

    • Link to additional tables select Manage tables

  6. In the Manage linked tables panel, do the following to link to one or more shared tables:

    1. Under Robots, select a robot name to display the available shared tables in the robot.

    2. Under Tables, do one of the following:

      • If you want to link the tables manually, select one or more tables to link to.

The tables that you select are added to the Selected tables section in the panel. The name of the source robot appears below the name of each table. Select the trash can to deselect a table.

      • If you want the tables to be linked automatically, select the Auto-link checkbox.

When you select the Auto-link checkbox, all the tables from that source are selected and included automatically.

If you clear the Auto-link checkbox, automatic linking of the new data tables from the source robot to the consumer robot is paused.

If a source robot that you are expecting to see is not available in the Robots list, either of the following reasons could be the cause:

    • The source robot has not yet shared any data tables.

    • The consumer robot you are in is not included in the source robot's manual table sharing arrangement.

If no tables are available in the Tables list, the selected robot has table auto-sharing turned on, but currently contains no data tables. If a data table was just added to the selected robot, try reloading the consumer robot page in the browser to refresh the display in the Manage linked tables panel.

For more information, see Table sharing methods.

  7. Select Save changes.

The tables that are linked appear in the Linked tables section, along with the source robot name.

Remove a link to a shared data table

Caution

Before you remove a link to a shared table, ensure that the table is no longer used by any of the tasks in the robot.

  3. Select the robot with the link that you want to remove (the consumer robot).

  4. In the upper-right corner of the robot, select Production or Development to select the mode to use.

    Note

Table sharing and linking is segregated by mode. You can only link to tables that are shared within the same mode.

For more information, see Development mode and production mode in Robots.

  5. On the Input/Output tab, in the Linked tables section, select Manage tables.

  6. In the Manage linked tables panel, in the Selected tables section, select the trash can to deselect one or more linked tables.

  7. When you have finished deselecting linked tables, select Save changes.

The table or tables that you unlinked are removed from the Linked tables section. You are removing only the link to the shared table. The master copy of the table in the source robot is unaffected.
