eSignatures: Request a Signature
With eSignatures, documents can be securely sent to selected individuals, with a request that they sign the documentation.

To send a Sign document request:
- Navigate to where the document is stored in Diligent Entities. This may be Working Documents or the Data Library, for example.
If in Working Documents:
- Locate the required document and select the Menu icon next to it.
A menu of actions relating to the selected document display.
- Select the Send for signature option.
If in the Data Library:
- Open the required Data Library record and locate the attached document.
- Select the Wand icon icon.

The eSignature Signature Request screen displays in a new browser window.
Set Subject
Note
The Subject field is automatically populated with the document file name. The detail can be amended. A character limit of 100 characters is set.
- Enter a unique identifier into the Subject field. The detail entered here will display as the name of the request seen by recipients.
Expiration Date
The Expiration Date is the date by which all signatures are required for the document.
Note
The Expiration Date is set by default to one month in the future.
To change the Expiration Date:
- Select the Expiration Date field.
A calendar displays.
- Select an alternative date.
Note
The alternative date selected must be in the future.
The selected date displays in the field.
Once the Expiration Date has passed, recipients will no longer be able to sign the document.
Signees
Note
A maximum of 50 Signees can be added to a single signature request.
Note
Next Request button will only be enabled if at least one Signee is added and both the Name and Email fields are clear.
To add Signees to the request:
- Select Add Signee.
A Name and Email field display.
- Enter the recipient's name into the Name field and their email address into the Email field.
- Repeat the process to add further Signees.
- Select the Set Signing Order? checkbox to Sequential signing for the Signees (if required).
Remove a Signee
To remove a Signee from the request:
- Locate their details in the Signees list at the bottom of the screen and select the red cross against them.
Their details are removed from the Signees list and they will no longer receive the request (once sent).
Create Request
Before selecting Send, ensure that:
A Subject and Expiration Date have been added.
At least one Signee is added.
Both the Name and Email fields are clear.
Note
Signature Requests are not sent to Signees by selecting the Send button.
- Select Send.
If not already logged in to DocuSign, a log in prompt will display, requesting that you do so.
- Enter the required detail and select LOG IN.
A successful authentication message displays.
- Close the window.
A Confirmation message displays on screen.
- Select Close.
A new browser window opens to display the Signature Request Configuration screen.

Pop-ups must be enabled/allowed on your browser for the Signature Request Configuration screen to display.
Signature Configuration – Add fields
When the Create button is selected, the Signature Request Configuration screen displays.
The layout of the request can be amended by adding fields. Adding fields to the request provides guidance to the Signee(s) so that they know where on request they should provide their signature, initials, or other information.
To add a field:
- Select the Signee dropdown menu and select the required Signee.
Field Type placeholders are listed in the Panel to the left of the screen.
- Select the required field and drag the placeholder to the preferred location on the request.
The Page Guide panel updates to present Field formatting options.
A unique set of fields can be added for each Signee version of the request.
Refer to the Add Fields support page for more information about adding and formatting fields.
- Select the Send button to send the Request.
The request is sent to all Signees in an email notification.
