Managing data room groups
Groups help you efficiently manage the access permissions of data room members. When you create a group, you assign it specific permissions. Then, when you invite members to your data room, you add them to a group, and they automatically inherit those permissions.
Only Data room managers or those with Manage team room members permissions can create and manage groups in a data room. For more information, see Manage permissions in team data rooms.

In Diligent Data Room, go to your data room, indicated by a the data room icon
, and select Members and groups in the left-hand navigation bar. -
Select the Groups tab.
The Groups view opens.

By default, all data rooms are assigned an initial set of groups with predefined permissions: Editor, Data room manager, Owner, and Reader.

The Data room manager group cannot be edited or deleted.

To view the permissions and members of a group, select the more options icon
and select Details from the menu. The properties panel opens where you can view or edit the group name, any assigned permissions, and group members.

To create a group, select Create group, and set the chosen name and permissions. For more information, go to Creating new permission groups

To edit a group, select the more options icon

To delete a group, select the more options icon
and select Delete from the menu.
Custom permissions

Custom permission groups: These can vary from room to room and allow for greater flexibility in managing permissions.

Each Team Data room is automatically assigned three predefined groups that can be modified.

Data Room Managers can create as many custom permission groups as they need, and members can be assigned to more than one custom group.
Permission Type Description Owner Owners have permission to send links, view and modify items as well as delete and download any item in the Team Data room.
Editor Editors can download, view, and modify items in the Team Data room and create new folders. They can move, copy, and delete files, and they can upload new files. Reader Readers can read folders and files in the team room.
