Working with objectives
Objectives, also known as goals or targets, are the desired outcomes or milestones that an enterprise aims to achieve within a defined timeframe. Objectives provide clarity and direction, guiding activities and decision-making across the enterprise.
In the Risk Manager app, you can create these objectives and link them to risks and controls.
Adding an objective
To add an objective:

From the Launchpad home page (www.diligentoneplatform.com), select the Risk Manager app to open it.
If you are already in Diligent One, you can use the left-hand navigation menu to switch to the Risk Manager app.

- Go to the Objective tab and select + Add Objective.
- In the Add Objective panel, enter a name for your objective.
- Add any additional details, and select one of the following options:
- Add Objective to save the objective and close the panel.
- Save & Add New to save the objective and add another one.
The objective is now created.
- (Optional) To view or edit additional details, select the objective name to open the objective details page.
Moving an objective through different workflows
After creating an objective, you can advance it through different workflow states based on your requirements. Some workflow states may require specific fields to be completed. Make sure the required information is filled in before advancing the objective.
To move an objective from Define to Discuss state:

From the Launchpad home page (www.diligentoneplatform.com), select the Risk Manager app to open it.

Go to the Objective tab, and select the name of the objective you want to work with.
The objective details page opens with the Details tab.
- Enter the information about the objective, including the ID, description, owner.
- Select Save Changes.
- In the top-right corner, select Evaluate.
The workflow status changes to Discuss.
Note
You can follow the steps above to move the objective through the remaining workflow states as needed.
Linking an objective to other objects
You can link an objective to risks and controls. Capturing this relationship helps establish effective risk assessment and mitigation.
To link an objective to other objects:

Go to the Objective tab, and select the name of the objective you want to work with.
The objective details page opens with the Details tab.
- Navigate to the Relationship tab and do the following based on what you want to link:
- To link a risk:
- Select Link risk.
In the Link object dialog box:
- The Type and Relation fields are preselected.
- In the Related To field select the risk and then select Link.
- To link a control:
- Select Link control.
In the Link object dialog box:
- The Type and Relation fields are preselected.
- In the Related To field select the control and then select Link.
The process is now linked to the selected objects and will appear in the Relationships tab.
- To link a risk:

When you link objects, a bidirectional link is created. For example, when you link an objective to a risk, the relationship is visible in the Relationship tab of both, the objective and the risk. If the links are not displaying correctly, contact Support for assistance.
Unlinking an objective from other objects
You can remove existing relationships between an objective and associated assets or other library objects.
To unlink an objective:

From the Launchpad home page (www.diligentoneplatform.com), select the Risk Manager app to open it.

Go to the Objective tab, and select the name of objective you want to work with.
The objective details page opens with the Details tab.
- Go to the Relationship tab and select the unlink icon
next to the object that you want to unlink.
- In the Unlink object dialog box, select Unlink. The object is removed from the objective.
Associating an objective with an organizational unit
You can associate an objective in Risk Manager with one or more organizational units. These units constitute the foundation of the enterprise, linking diverse organizational entities across different company segments. This hierarchy also stores departmental and business unit details.
To associate an objective with an organizational unit:

Under the Objective tab, select the name of the objective that you want to update.
The objective details page is displayed.

Under the Details tab, in the Related Org Unit field, search for and select one or more preconfigured organizational units you want to associate with the objective.

Select Apply Selection.

Select Save Changes.
The objective is updated. On the Risk Manager home page, under the Objectives tab, you can view the associated organizational unit in the Org Unit column.

The organizational unit hierarchy is preconfigured by the System Admins in your organization. For more information about the hierarchies in the organizational structure, contact your System Admin.

If you are a System Admin, navigate to Platform Settings and select Org Structure, to view and manage the list of preconfigured organizational units. To learn more about organizational units, see Organizational Structure.
Deleting an objective
To delete an objective:

Go to the Objective tab, and select the name of objective you want to work with.
The objective details page opens with the Details tab.
- In the top-right corner, select More options
and then select Delete.
- In the confirmation dialog box, select Delete.
The objective is deleted.
