Set up External Other Directorships

Directorships at other entities an individual holds or has resigned from must be listed and e-filed with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) for the five years following the date of resignation.

Information about other directorships can be submitted to the CRO in two ways: you either record them in Diligent Entities or supply a list of other directorships from another source.

To record other directorships in Diligent Entities, refer to the Record External Appointments section in Individual details to learn more. Such appointments are included in the form the application generates. The application excludes other directorships in Industrial and Provident Societies.

In the External Appointment wizard, once you select Ireland in country, the External Company (CRO) option displays so that you can indicate that the appointment is in an external company. For directorships in external companies, the company number is not included in the filing and the company is added as registered in Ireland (External Company).

To indicate that the list of other directorships is to be supplied from another source and e-filed in the attachments data library:

  1. Go to System Tools > User-Defined Fields > All People and make the External Other Directorships List field visible.

    Note

System Tools are available to users with administrator privileges.

Refer to User-Defined Fields (UDFs) to learn how to change the visibility of user-defined fields.

Once you make the field visible, it displays in the Main Details section on the Individual Details page.

  2. Open the required individual record and select Individual Details and then Edit.

  3. In the Main Details section, select the External Other Directorship List option.

  4. Save your changes.

You can attach the external other directorships list using the Form Attachments data library.

    Note

Alternate directors must also be listed on a company's register of directors and notification of their appointment or removal must be sent to the CRO. The same process used to record and send other directorship information to the CRO can be used to record and notify the CRO of an alternate director.

What's next?

Once all the necessary steps outlined in Set up Electronic Filing for Ireland have been completed, users can start to generate and e-file forms to the CRO.
