Record Company Authentication Codes

Before you start electronic filing, you must ensure that company authentication codes or company PINs have been set up for all of the companies you want to electronically file forms for and that Companies House have been notified of these.

You have two options to store company authentication codes in Diligent Entities:

  • in the electronic filing profile, if you want to use a single code for all filings
  • in the company records, if you want to use a different code for each company

If you want to use the same code for all companies for which you want to file forms electronically to Companies House, you must add the code to the EFUK4 electronic filing profile on the Details page of the Electronic Filing wizard. For more information refer to Enable the Electronic Filing Profile for the United Kingdom.

Note

If an incorporation is submitted without a company PIN, Companies House allocates one upon creating the company and return it to you along with the company registration number, the incorporation and the accounting reference date, as well as the incorporation certificate.

To add a different code for each company, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the company record and go to Company Details.

  2. Select Wizards > Electronic Filing > UK PIN Wizard.

  3. On the Efile UK Company PIN wizard, enter the company authentication code in the Company PIN field and select Finish to save your changes.

What's next?

Once you added all the company authentication codes, you can create a list of these codes and send the list to Companies House. Refer to Create a List of Company Authentication Codes to learn more.
