Create a PNG Export

You can create a PNG export of a group structure chart and its sub-charts in Group Structure Visualisation and download the exported charts or save them to Working Documents.

  1. Run a group structure and select Visualisation.

Refer to Run a group structure to learn more about how to run a group structure.

  2. Manipulate the chart as required.

You can use filters, groups, define what information displays in the entity boxes and even what the boxes look like. Refer to the relevant topics to learn more.

  3. Select Export Export_download_icon.

  4. Select Export as PNG from the list of options.

The Export as PNG image dialogue displays.

You can also download a PNG snapshot of the chart and sub-charts by selecting the Download PNG snapshot option. With that option, you can quickly download the chart in the state it is visible on the screen. This type of export uses the browser's built-in snapshot tool which limits the dimensions of the PNG snapshot. The limit depends on the browser you use. If the chart exceeds those dimensions, it is scaled down to that limit which might result in loss in detail.

  5. In the Export as PNG image dialogue, select the charts you want to include in the export.

Each chart you select is exported as one image and if multiple charts are selected, the individual images are combined into a single .zip file when you download them.

  6. (Optional) Select any extra options to customise your export.

    Option

    Description

    Include entity note numbers

This option is only available when a chart contains the Entity note chart text. When selected, this option displays entity note numbers in the exported file.

    Include legend

If selected, a legend is included in the export.

    Complete legend for all sub-charts

Use this option in combination with Include legend to display all the legend entries defined for the sub-chart included in the exported file.

    Include entity notes

This option is only available when a chart contains the Entity note chart text. When selected, this option displays entity notes on a separate page in the exported file.

    Add confidential watermark

Select this option to watermark the chart with Confidential in the export.

    Fully expand structure

If selected, the group structure is fully expanded in the output even when it is not fully expanded on the screen. If not selected, the group structure is exported as seen on the screen, that is, only the routes expanded on screen are expanded.

    Highlight selected entity

If this option is selected and you select an entity in the chart, the entity and its relationships are highlighted in the export as well. You can use this option to direct focus to an entity.

    Transparent background

Select this option to make the background transparent in the export.

  7. Select Export.

The Stored Charts panel displays where the export you just started is listed. A status bar displays to show the progress of the export. You can cancel the export using the x against the status bar.

A notification displays when the export finished. While the export is running, you can edit the chart without altering with the running export.

What's next?

In Stored Charts, you can download the PNG export to your desktop or save it to Working Documents or remove it from the list. Refer to Stored Charts to learn more.
