Export as Chart File

You can export and import group charts and sub-charts as chart files in .viz format in Group Structure Visualisation.

A chart file includes all the data and configuration for the visualised group structure. You can store chart files on your device and share them with other users who have access to Group Structure Visualisation. You can also share chart files with Customer Support in case you need help with visualising your group structures. You can also import the chart files back to Group Structure Visualisation in Diligent Entities.

Caution

When you export chart files, you export the data relating to entities and ownership relationships as well. Therefore, the data shows the state when the group structure was generated and visualised. If any data has changed for any details included in the group structure, it is not reflected in the exported or imported chart file. To see those changes, you must generate a new group structure.

  1. Run a group structure and select Visualisation.

Refer to Run a group structure to learn more about how to run a group structure.

  2. Manipulate the chart as required.

You can use filters, groups, define what information displays in the entity boxes and even what the boxes look like. Refer to the relevant topics to learn more.

  3. Select Export Export_download_icon.

  4. Select the Export as chart file option from the list.

The Export as chart file dialogue displays.

  5. (Optional) On the Export as chart file dialogue, select Save to shared group visualisations in the Extra Options to save the chart file to Group Visualisations.

If you select the Save to shared group visualisations option, you can change the name of the chart file in the Description field. If you export a chart file that you previously saved to Group Visualisations, the Overwrite current file option also displays so that you can save the changes you made to the chart and update the chart file in Group Visualisations. Other users, that is, users who did not originally create the chart file, only have the option to save it as a new chart file and can't overwrite the chart file in Group Visualisations.

Refer to Group Visualisations to learn more.

    Note

The Save to shared group visualisations option is available to users that have the Logon using HTTP API user role right in the System Security section and the Import Document into Working Docs user role right in the Working Documents section enabled for their user role. The user must also have access to Working Documents. Refer to User Role Rights for more information.

  6. Select Export.

You can find the exported chart file in Stored Charts. From there, you can download the chart file to your device. The chart file is downloaded to the Downloads folder by default, or the folder that is specified in the browser settings.

    Note

You can access your exported charts in Stored Charts as long as you stay in Group Structure Visualisation. Refer to Stored Charts to learn more.

If you chose the Save to shared group visualisations option, you can also find the chart file in Group Visualisations with the file name that you provided. Refer to Group Visualisations to learn more.

What's next?

Use the Import chart option under Export Export_download_icon to import a chart file back to Group Structure Visualisation for viewing or further editing.

Caution

In an imported chart file you see the state of the data at the time when the group structure was generated and visualised. If any data has changed for any details included in the group structure, it is not reflected in the chart file. To see those changes, you must generate a new group structure.
