Sort Entities in the Visualised Group Structure
The Sort option in the Edit Panel in Group Structure Visualisation allows you to set the order of values according to which the entity boxes are to be displayed.
Note
The Sort option is available to clients with a Professional or Enterprise package. Contact your Customer Success Manager to learn more.
-
Run a group structure and select Visualisation.
Refer to Run a group structure to learn more about how to run a group structure.
-
In the Edit Panel, select the Sort
tab.
-
Select Add a sort and choose a value from the list.
For example, select Country. The sort you select is added to the list in the Edit Panel.
-
(Optional) Repeat step 3 to add more sorts.
For example, add Date of Incorporation.
-
(Optional) Change the order of the sorts by using the arrows next to them.
The order of the sorts defines the order in which they are applied to the chart.
- Select Apply to update the chart.
The entity boxes are reordered based on the specified sorts: first by country in alphabetical order and second by date of incorporation. In this example, Craig Holdings PLC and Alpha Coffee Co. are both incorporated in the United Kingdom and since Craig Holdings PLC was incorporated before Alpha Coffee Co., it displays before Alpha Coffee Co. If the chart was only sorted by country, Alpha Coffee Co. would display first as entities are displayed in alphabetical order by default.
Note
Sorting is always applied to entities on the same level among entities that have the same parent. For example, in the group structure below, if we sort by country, the subsidiaries of Diligent Investment Holdings Pty Limited are in alphabetical order by country and the subsidiaries of Craig Holdings Limited are in alphabetical order by country instead of all subsidiaries on that level being in alphabetical order by country.
What's next?
You can save the sort settings for later use for yourself and also share them with others. Refer to Save and Share Settings to learn more.
To share the chart with others on your team or print it out for a meeting, use the export option that best fits your needs. Refer to the topics on how to create exports.
